About the Board
Merton Safeguarding Adults Board is made up of a collection of local organisations both statutory members (Local Authority, Clinical Commissioning Group and Police) and non-statutory members (provider health services, fire, ambulance, probation, Healthwatch and the voluntary sector and other provider services).
We work together as a partnership to ensure adults at risk of abuse or neglect with care and support needs (whether or not those needs are being met by any agency) receive appropriate advice support and guidance to keep themselves safe and ensure they are safeguarded in a proportionate, empowering and responsive manner.
Our vision is that:
People are able to live as independently as possible, free from risk of abuse or neglect, people are treated with respect and dignity promoting choice and control wherever possible and receive timely support when they need protection
We aim to:
- Stop abuse or neglect wherever possible
- Prevent harm and reduce risk of abuse or neglect
- Promote an approach that concentrates on improving the life for the adult
- Raise public awareness
- Provide information and support in accessible ways to help adults understand the different types of abuse, how to stay safe, how to raise a concern about the safety and wellbeing of an adult at risk
